Hing on a wee minute

I was sitting here watching some news roll by and it suddenly struck me. I did, of course, immediately ask "who threw that?" But I digress ...

Has there or has there not been a bit of a paradigm shift in Scottish politics when the SNP is disappointed at failing to overturn a 10,500 majority? We're a bit cheesed off at only increasing our share of the vote by 13%, sad that we only slashed the majority, gutted that we never took one of Labour's safest seats, pure miserable that we didn't sweep everything before us.

Jings, crivvens, help ma boab, we're still improving.

Right, back to cheese...

Hang on Calum but your lot were saying that based on 2007 you were going to be taking it. I was even standing beside the MSP who took the equivalent seat at the count, she wasn't wearing a Labour rossette.

Are you telling me that the Nats literature and talking up of their chances in this comapign were a fallacy?

Stephen, we know you were at the count, you don't have to keep repeating it or making up stories to prove it.

A good result for the SNP, increasing our share of the vote. Not as good a result as we hoped for, but we didn't lose our deposit and it goes a fair distance towards showing that the contest in Scotland is between the SNP and Labour.

That new analysis of who is significant in Scottish politics could be the reason why Lib Dem votes in Edinburgh West are moving towards the SNP and Labour (Conservatives are also taking a large chunk, right enough).
