Council tax freeze

Now that the STUC has joined the Lib Dems in calling for an increase in Council Tax, perhaps we should be clear about how Council Tax has been frozen since the SNP came to power. The Scottish Government offered councils the opportunity to relieve some of the burden on Council Tax payers with a funding package. 32 local authorities took separate decisions about whether to cut, freeze or increase their Council Tax every year - they're the people best placed to know what their council needs. All 32 councils voted to freeze the Council Tax in each year in which the option was available, it's up to each council whether to continue that.
