Referendum - Jim Murphy says "bring it on"

Well, not quite, but our current favourite Secretary of State for Scotland has said that "most Scots no longer want independence". He'll not be worried at all about a referendum, then , will he? In fact, he's bound to want to have one to get it out of the way, isn't he? Isn't he?

Mind your step there.

If all you had to base your opinions on was the copies of of "Scotlands national newspaper" delivered to you in London then you might possibly believe that Scots no longer want independence.

Meanwhile in the real world...

Jim Murphy's biography on Wikipedia has some unusual "facts".

Apparently...

"Murphy returned to the UK [from the RSA] at the age of eighteen to study Politics and European Law at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow where he worked as a waiter in order to fund his studies. During his time at university, he was elected President of the National Union of Students Scotland...in 1992 and served a term of office until 1994."

If he was, as is stated on the same page, born in 1967, this suggests he was at Strathclyde from 1985 until 1994. I'm no rocket surgeon but I make that nine years.

It then rabbits on about him being President of the NUS between '94 and '96 before concluding:

"After this period, he did not return to his studies and did not take a degree."

Wait a minute! Nine years at Uni and no degree? That takes some dedication....
